The Ondo State Police Command has apprehended a suspect and seized three bags of suspected counterfeit United States dollar notes during a raid on a suspected fake currency production site in Odigbo Local Government Area. The operation, which took place on October 29 at Kiniso Village, was launched following a complaint from a man who received counterfeit dollars during a currency exchange transaction.
The suspect, Peter Desmond, was arrested while his accomplice, Olami Toro, managed to escape. The PPRO stated that the investigation would intensify to uncover the full extent of the counterfeit currency network and bring any involved individuals to justice. The public has been advised to be cautious of suspicious foreign currency transactions and to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
