IOI says talent for Hitman World of Assassination Elusive Targets like JackSepticEye are found first, before a location is decided that 'thematically suits the talent' and with a story that 'synergizes with the talent in tone and genre'

Senior level designer Marin Ansdal of IO Interactive revealed that the selection of Elusive Target celebrities for Hitman World of Assassination occurs prior to the level design and writing stages. Ansdal emphasized that IO Interactive's aim is to bring in talent that will draw more attention to the game while also aligning with its core audience.

The marketing department handles the talent selection process and outreach, and the level design and story development commence only after the celebrity or public figure has agreed to participate.

Ansdal explained that once the talent is secured, the level designers and writers collaborate to create a location that thematically fits the celebrity, alongside crafting a story that harmonizes with the talent's persona, genre, and tone. The game has previously showcased a diverse range of guests, such as Snoop Dogg, Sean Bean, Eminem, Milla Jovovich, and more. IO Interactive takes into account the unique setting that Agent 47 can seamlessly blend into, given his knack for disguises.

Ansdal highlighted that for the Elusive Target featuring YouTuber and streamer JackSepticEye, the developers created a psychological thriller revolving around the darker side of internet celebrity. This mission stands in stark contrast to the more classic and iconic settings of previous missions, like the science fiction narrative involving Jean-Claude Van Damme or the Bond-inspired plot when collaborating with Mads Mikkelsen.

The new The Host Elusive Target mission from Hitman World of Assassination is currently available for free until November 25.
