High school football: 1A, 8-player semifinal previews

The 1A semifinal football preview features two teams, North Summit and Duchesne, set to clash on November 6. Duchesne enters the game with a 10-1 record, while North Summit is at 7-4. Duchesne leads the all-time series against North Summit 16-15, with the last meeting ending in a 56-21 victory for Duchesne. North Summit's best win came against Rich, a three-time defending 8-player champion and the top seed in its bracket.

North Summit's key player is Tayton Pace, who has thrown for 1,074 yards and nine touchdowns. Duchesne's star is Kyson Despain, who has run for 1,391 yards and 20 touchdowns, and Brex Robinson, who has contributed 659 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns. Duchesne's offense is the most potent in the 1A, averaging 44.9 points per game, while North Summit's defense is the fifth-best in the division with 20.4 points allowed per game.

Both teams have shown resilience, with Duchesne having won seven consecutive games since the second Saturday of the season, and North Summit coming back from a 43-19 loss to Kanab the previous year. The winner of this semifinal will advance to compete against the Kanab-Beaver winner for the 1A football championship.
