Pakistanis are consuming around 560 million YouTube videos daily, according to figures presented by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Chairman Major General (retd.) Hafeez ur Rehman. Speaking at a meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecom, Rehman highlighted YouTube's growing popularity in the country.
He noted that the 560 million figure represents videos watched throughout the day, not individual viewers, as the same user can watch multiple videos. Rehman also shared that Pakistan ranks among the top countries for YouTube video consumption and that the country had approximately 96 million YouTube users. Additionally, the PTA Chairman discussed other social media platforms in Pakistan, including TikTok with around 96 million users and WhatsApp, which has about 100 million users, handling billions of messages and calls daily.
The briefing took place as lawmakers examined Pakistan's increasing reliance on digital platforms and concerns over the quality of internet and mobile network services.
