Netflix is set to introduce a new "AI Discover" tab in its TV app, featuring experimental AI-powered recommendations tailored to various themes. This innovative feature aims to help users discover new shows and movies based on their interests. The first set of experiments under this initiative includes themes like "Something Light," "Family Movie Night," or "Quick Watches."
Upon selecting a theme, Netflix will display relevant recommendations. Users have the option to provide feedback on these suggestions, which the platform will then consider for future recommendations. Netflix asserts that AI Discover leverages "a new intelligence layer we've been building that responds to what members tell us in real time and keeps learning."
The AI Discover tab, accessible via a "Discover" tab on the top menu, is set to roll out gradually in the US to English-speaking members using supported TVs. This development comes amid Netflix's recent workforce reduction of approximately 1,000 employees, as the company experiences slower growth and declining user engagement.
