From Sanjay Gupta to Sushant Singh Rajput, Guru Dutt and Parveen Babi: Bollywood stars found dead at home

The Hindi film industry was left reeling on Saturday after esteemed filmmaker Sanjay Gupta passed away at the young age of 59. Tributes from across Bollywood poured in, including a deeply emotional tribute from Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan. Though he didn't mention Gupta by name, the grief in Bachchan's words was unmistakable.

"A friend, a fellow artiste and a true devotee of art has left us at such a young age! I am unable to understand how all of this is happening," he wrote. The veteran actor lamented the recent string of losses in the creative community, questioning, "What wrong have they done to deserve such a fate?" He went on to ask for mercy, hoping the planets in the solar system would "retreat to their respective homes and stay apart from one another," so the tribulations would cease.

The bond between Bachchan and Gupta was forged on the 2002 heist thriller Kaante, where they starred alongside Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty, Lucky Ali, Mahesh Manjrekar, and Kumar Gaurav. This gritty, stylish film cemented Gupta's reputation for slick, hard-edged cinema. Police determined Gupta likely suffered a head injury after falling inside his Versova home late Friday night, though they have not yet determined the exact circumstances.

His body was cremated on Sunday, with a host of Bollywood stars, including Sanjay Dutt, Anil Kapoor, Ajay Devgn, Vivek Oberoi, and Hrithik Roshan, paying their respects on social media.
