Watson, Grace join stellar field for Nedbank Golf Challenge
The tournament will include several in-form and experienced South African golfers.
Bubba Watson, a two-time Masters champion, has joined a stellar field for the upcoming Nedbank Golf Challenge at Sun City. The tournament, part of the DP World Tour, will take place from December 3 to 6. Watson, who spent the past five years on the LIV Golf Tour, won the Masters in 2012 and 2014 and is a former world number two.
Other Major winners joining in Sun City next month include Bryson DeChambeau, Wyndham Clark, and Justin Rose. Watson shared his enthusiasm for returning to South Africa, a country that has produced many great golfers and where people live for golf and sports. He also mentioned the wildlife in South Africa, which adds to the appeal of the event.
The South African golf scene has been strengthened by the addition of multiple DP World Tour winners Branden Grace and PGA Tour winner Aldrich Potgieter. Grace, a nine-time winner on the DP World Tour, is returning as the last South African winner of the Nedbank Golf Challenge in 2017 and holds the record for the lowest round in men's Major Championship history at The Open in 2017.
Potgieter, the youngest winner in Korn Ferry Tour history and the youngest South African to ever win on the PGA Tour, will be competing in his third Nedbank Golf Challenge. Other high-profile players confirmed for the tournament include defending champion Kristoffer Reitan, as well as Thriston Lawrence, Casey Jarvis, Christiaan Bezuidenhout, and Hennie du Plessis.
