US states order evacuations as floods follow heavy storm
A powerful storm brought heavy rain to parts of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah, prompting evacuations as the region recovers from recent floods.
A potent storm dumped copious amounts of rain upon sections of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah, leading to evacuations as the area grapples with ongoing floods. The intense storm unleashed torrents of rainfall across the Southwest on Sunday, prompting US officials to issue evacuation orders in certain locales. Meteorologists warned that the deluge could reignite flash flooding, particularly in rugged terrain, narrow canyons, waterways, and areas ravaged by recent wildfires.
Authorities cautioned that the threat of further flash flooding would persist into Monday, with the most serious risk anticipated in parts of Arizona, southern Utah, southwestern Colorado, and western New Mexico. These regions are still in the throes of recovering from the destructive floods that had struck earlier.
