The Sustainability Department of AngloGold Ashanti (AGA) Obuasi Mine recently visited four projects under the company's 10-Year Socio Economic Development Plan (SEDP). The projects include a 400-bed dormitory for girls at T.I. Ahmaddiya Senior High School, the Obuasi East Municipal Health Centre, a TVET/Science Lab Centre at Akaporiso, and a 24-unit classroom block for Mangoase schools.
The team, led by Ing. Caleb Dwaah, aimed to showcase project progress and provide journalists with firsthand reporting opportunities. Upon inspection, it was observed that the girls dormitory will be completed by May, the health centre will be handed over by the end of the year, and the TVET/Science Lab is about 40% complete. The 24-unit classroom block for Mangoase schools is also nearing completion, with a total cost of GHC20,887,643.00.
Local dignitaries praised AGA for their contributions to the communities, with the Adansihemaa expressing gratitude for the dormitory and the Krontihene of Dompoase acknowledging the municipality's new projects. The Obuasi East Municipal Director of Health Services and the MCE for Obuasi commended AGA, looking forward to the handing over of the facilities in April next year.
