Startup Island Taiwan, backed by the National Development Council, introduced 33 Taiwanese deep-tech startups to the SWITCH 2026 event in Singapore from October 27 to 29. Partnering with Startup Terrace, Hsinchu Science Park Bureau, the Taiwan Stock Exchange, and Taiwan Digi Gold Card, the exhibition showcased these startups at Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre. Their presence aimed to open new business opportunities in Southeast Asia.
The startups focused on developing integrated ICT capabilities in four fields: semiconductors, AI and software, healthcare and biotech, and energy. In semiconductors, they introduced power-efficient AI chips, tools that expedite chip design, and faster data transfer technologies. AI and software solutions aimed to help businesses implement AI safely, including factory equipment management, real-time video monitoring, and multilingual customer service.
Healthcare and biotech focused on drug development, early cancer detection, and digital rehabilitation. Lastly, energy innovations covered smart power management, green energy and battery storage dispatch, water plant energy savings, and carbon recycling.
During SWITCH 2026, several startups signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with Singaporean partners. Godspeed signed an agreement with WESPAC PTE LTD for software licensing and hardware distribution, while Optiqb teamed up with South Korea's Y.GRAM for glasses-free 3D content solutions. Additionally, CarbonClean Energy and EpiSante Biomed aim to establish a presence in Singapore through StageOne, Singapore’s official startup platform.
Tung Chen-yuan, the Taipei Representative Office's representative in Singapore, highlighted that Taiwan's startups build upon the country's strengths in semiconductors and AI. By taking Singapore as their initial step in international partnerships, these teams can become competitive global players within five to ten years. Exhibited technologies ranged from power-efficient AI chips to healthcare and biotech solutions and energy innovations such as smart power management and carbon recycling.
Startup Island Taiwan believes that long-term growth between Taiwan and Singapore can be fostered by dividing roles, with Taiwan handling technology development and validation, while Singapore serves as the commercialization hub and expands into Southeast Asia.
