Skyler Astin sings in this exclusive clip from PBS special We Chose To Go To The Moon
In this exclusive look at the PBS "living documentary" celebrating the space race, Pitch Perfect star Skylar Astin performs "Fly Me To The Moon".
Skyler Astin, a talented singer from Pitch Perfect, captivated audiences with her rendition of "Fly Me To The Moon" in the exclusive preview of PBS's new special, We Chose To Go To The Moon. This unique multimedia event, hosted at New York City's Carnegie Hall in April 2026, blends live performances, orchestral music, archival footage, personal stories, and appearances from astronauts and their loved ones.
The special, created and narrated by John Monksy and directed by Tony Award-winning Michael Mayer, showcases the history and human stories of our lunar exploration. Notably, Astin's performance pays homage to Frank Sinatra's version of the song, which became a symbol of NASA's Apollo missions in the 1960s. The track was played during the Apollo 10 mission, Apollo 11 before the moon landing, and even at Neil Armstrong's memorial in 2012.
The PBS special, airing on November 10 at 8 p.m. ET, promises a hopeful celebration of space exploration for the future.
