Sakumono double killing: Main suspect arrested after manhunt
Police have arrested Samuel Osei Anto Christopher, the main suspect in the shooting of George and Irene Atubiga at NTHC Estate, Sakumono, after a manhunt.
Samuel Christopher Osei Anto, the key suspect in the Sakumono murder case, has been apprehended by the police from his hiding spot. The arrest came after a 47-year-old woman, Beatrice Mumuni, was initially detained in connection with the killing of two individuals at the NTHC Estate in Sakumono, Greater Accra. Mumuni is accused of guiding Osei Anto to the residence of George Atubiga, 57, and his niece Irene Atubiga, 47, before the tragic incident occurred on October 30, 2026.
Preliminary police investigations indicate that the murders may have been a result of a financial dispute between Osei Anto and George Atubiga. George Atubiga allegedly borrowed an amount of GH¢500,000 from the suspect but was unable to repay the debt. On the morning of the incident, Osei Anto, accompanied by Mumuni, visited the victims' residence to demand the repayment of the loan. A disagreement ensued, and Osei Anto allegedly shot and killed the two victims.
