The Ashanti Regional Police Command has apprehended a 72-year-old man named Samuel Christopher Osei Anto in relation to the murder of two individuals at NTHC Estate, Sakumono, in the Greater Accra Region. Osei Anto was taken into custody on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at his hideout in Tikrom near Ejisu, located in the Ashanti Region.
The arrest came about after the Accra Regional Police Command released a statement on October 30, 2026, regarding the murder of Irene Atuguba, 47, and George Atuguba, 57. Initial investigations suggest that the killings were connected to a financial dispute between Osei Anto and George Atuguba over an alleged unpaid loan of GH¢500,000.
A team of police officers acted on intelligence regarding the suspect's location and successfully apprehended him at his hideout. During the operation, police recovered a Smith & Wesson pistol along with seven rounds of live ammunition from Osei Anto's possession. He is currently in police custody and cooperating with the investigation. The firearms and ammunition recovered during the operation have been preserved as evidence.
