PIA Engineer Killed in Suspected Targeted Attack in Karachi

A 54-year-old Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) engineer, Imtiaz Ahmed, was shot dead in Karachi on Sunday in what is suspected to be a targeted attack. Ahmed had left his home in Block 13 to purchase bread when unidentified motorcycle-riding gunmen opened fire and swiftly fled the scene.

According to Sharea Faisal SHO Anser Ahmed Butt, the attackers discharged several shots, three of which struck a nearby vehicle, while one bullet found its mark on Ahmed, resulting in his death. He was rushed to a nearby private hospital, but doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival. His body was subsequently transferred to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a post-mortem examination.

The police have dismissed robbery as the motive behind the killing, but the reason behind the attack remains unknown. Ahmed was originally from Lahore, and police have contacted his brother, who was en route to Karachi. Formal proceedings to ascertain the motive and identify the assailants will commence once his brother arrives in Karachi. Ahmed’s wife was in Germany at the time of the incident, having traveled to visit their daughter.
