Pakistani Runners Make Their Mark at New York City Marathon 2026

In the 2026 New York City Marathon, which took place on Sunday, November 1, 29 Pakistani and Pakistani-origin runners completed the 42.195-kilometer race. Among them, Amin Nadeem Mukaty from Karachi emerged as the fastest Pakistani participant, finishing the marathon in 2 hours, 53 minutes, and 42 seconds, which was the only time under three hours in the group.

Sadiq Shah and Mohammad Junaid from Karachi achieved a notable milestone by completing their Abbott World Marathon Majors Six Star journeys, with Shah finishing in 3:01:37, just shy of the three-hour mark, and Junaid completing the race in 3:53:07. Completing all six major marathons - Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago, and New York - awards runners the prestigious Six Star medal.

Mukaty's performance was impressive, with him covering the first 5 kilometers in 20:44, reaching the 10-kilometer mark in 40:32, and maintaining a consistent pace throughout the race. Other Pakistani runners included Fahd Mukhtar from Multan, who finished in 3:16:23, and Jamal Shah from Cincinnati, who crossed the finish line in 3:23:25.
