NNL: Crown FC coach Akande reflects on 2-2 draw against Heartland

Crown FC Technical Adviser Adejumo Fatai Akande has commented on his team's 2-2 draw against Heartland in the inaugural match of the 2026-27 Nigeria National League, NNL, season. Initially trailing after conceding twice during the first half at Dan Anyiam Stadium, Crown FC managed to turn their performance around in the second half, scoring two goals.

The goals were scored by Osas Kelvin and Mustapha Olamilekan. Heartland FC managed to score with goals from Ekene Osiugwe and Johnathan Osondu. Akande emphasized the importance of concentration and tactical adjustments for his team to secure the point. He stated that they needed to improve their focus, avoid distractions, and take control of the game.

Akande explained the switch to a 4-3-3 formation as an attempt to create more attacking opportunities. Despite having several chances to take the lead before Heartland scored, Crown FC failed to capitalize on them. In the second half, they managed to score two quick goals, demonstrating that persistence can lead to converting chances.
