The MoMo Fintech Lab initiative aims to cultivate young Ghanaian innovators into entrepreneurs who can create sustainable financial technology (fintech) businesses to tackle issues within the financial services industry. Paapa Osei, Chief Legal, Regulatory Affairs and Reputation Management Officer of MobileMoney Fintech Limited, explained that the programme seeks to bridge the gap between innovative ideas and the market through mentorship, partnerships and business development support.
The event, held at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, brought together 415 young innovators from the Kumasi hub, out of 1,791 applicants across all 16 regions of Ghana. The five-day Middle Belt Zonal Hackathon and Pitching Event featured teams developing technology-driven solutions for challenges faced by individuals and businesses.
