KT, Samsung test AI-powered network technology at baseball games

South Korea's leading telecommunications provider, KT, and Samsung Electronics have been testing cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI) network technology at a baseball stadium in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, according to a report on Monday. The innovative AI-powered wireless network operation technology was put through its paces at KT Wiz Park, where the companies aimed to ensure seamless mobile connectivity for thousands of attendees connecting their devices simultaneously.

The testing process utilized a digital twin platform named AI Cell Twin, which generates a virtual replica of a wireless network. This virtual environment enables engineers to simulate fluctuations in mobile usage patterns and data traffic, as well as test various network management strategies before implementing them in actual infrastructure.

The joint development of this autonomous network technology by KT and Samsung involves AI algorithms that identify the most efficient operating strategies, verify them within the simulated environment, and subsequently apply these optimized solutions to real-world networks.

This advanced technology differs from traditional automation systems, which typically rely on preset rules or individual performance metrics. In contrast, the new AI-driven approach considers multiple factors, including user distribution and usage patterns, to dynamically adapt network management strategies and maintain optimal performance levels.
