Kennedy Center names 2026 honorees as Trump renovation battle moves show offsite
The Kennedy Center has announced that Paul Anka, David Foster, Andy Garcia, David Mamet and Barbara Mandrell will be honored at this year's Kennedy Center Honors.
The Kennedy Center announced its honorees for 2026, including Paul Anka, David Foster, Andy Garcia, David Mamet, and Barbara Mandrell. This year's event will take place at the Capital One Arena, rather than the Kennedy Center itself, due to ongoing legal battles over President Donald Trump's attempts to add his name to the building.
The nominees have all enjoyed successful careers in their respective fields - Mamet is a renowned playwright, Mandrell is a Country Music Hall of Fame member, Foster is a successful producer, Anka has written or co-written iconic songs like "My Way," and Garcia has an extensive acting career. Several of the honorees have political affiliations that align with Trump's conservative views.
