Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has expressed confidence in Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman as the team prepares for their Champions League clash against Bayern Munich. Lookman, who joined Atletico Madrid during the winter transfer window, has struggled to maintain the impressive form he showed last season, scoring just two goals in 14 appearances this time.
Simeone, however, remains steadfast in his belief in Lookman's potential, drawing parallels to former Atletico players Julián Álvarez and Antoine Griezmann, who also faced early-season difficulties. Simeone emphasized that Lookman's contributions to the team, particularly in one-on-one scenarios in the final third, are invaluable.
He cautioned against frustration and urged Lookman to continue working hard until his performance improves. Despite not yet earning a starting spot in the Champions League, Lookman has been a key substitute for Atletico, featuring in matches against Liverpool, Manchester United and Stuttgart.
