‘Hunger Games: Sunrise On The Reaping’ To Play On Meta VR Glasses Post Theatrical; Lionsgate Teams With Mark Zuckerberg Corp On Pic’s 3D Conversion

Lionsgate is partnering with Meta to convert the upcoming film The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping into 3D for its theatrical release. According to TheWrap, the 3D conversion was completed in collaboration with director Francis Lawrence and the visual effects studio DNEG. This marks the first time the Mark Zuckerberg-led tech company has partnered with a Hollywood studio to convert a feature film into 3D to support a theatrical release.

Following the film's debut, it will be available in 3D on Meta VR glasses when they launch in the spring.

The film, which is directed by Francis Lawrence, is set 24 years before the original trilogy and follows 16-year-old Haymitch Abernathy during the reaping for the 50th annual Hunger Games. Billboard reports the movie is scheduled for a November 20 release.

A 29-song official soundtrack is set to arrive on November 13. The album features an eclectic lineup including Stevie Nicks, The Cure, The Smashing Pumpkins, Noah Kahan, and Jennifer Lawrence. Consequence notes that the tracklist includes a new "Arena Mix" of Stevie Nicks' 1989 song “Doing the Best That I Can,” a live version of The Cure's “Alone,” and a new version of “Deep in the Meadow” by Jennifer Lawrence.

Other artists on the soundtrack include Kacey Musgraves, Ella Langley, Depeche Mode, Lizzy McAlpine, Violet Grohl, Tyler Childers, Madison Cunningham, Hudson Freeman, Noah Cyrus, and Bella Kay.
