Chelsea beat Manchester United, heap more pressure on Michael Carrick

Chelsea capitalized on Manchester United's second-half downfall, securing their third consecutive loss and intensifying pressure on Michael Carrick. This fourth Premier League defeat of the season places United in the relegation zone, leaving Carrick, who recently received a chance to improve following a poor start to the campaign, in a precarious position just days after being given the opportunity.

After a promising first-half display, United conceded an early goal to Chelsea's Morgan Rogers just five minutes after the break. Chelsea extended their lead 14 minutes later when Cole Palmer scored from the penalty spot after VAR confirmed Lisandro Martinez was guilty of a second yellow card for an illegal handball on Wesley Fofana.

With this second red card, Martinez's future at the club became uncertain. The game seemed nearly over as Chelsea's Estevao scored a third goal, only for it to be disallowed for offside after a marginal offside decision. United had taken the lead themselves during the initial 45 minutes, but Matheus Cunha's close-range header was ruled out as offside by VAR.
