Attorney-General Tan Sri Mohd Dusuki Mokhtar has announced that former Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak remains incarcerated despite the conditional pardon granted by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. The fine of RM50 million, imposed as a condition for serving the remainder of Najib's prison term under house arrest, remains unpaid.

According to the Attorney-General, there is no time limit for payment, but Najib will continue to be held in prison until the fine is settled. The decision to allow Najib to serve his sentence under house arrest was made following a meeting of the Federal Territories Pardons Board chaired by the King. The Legal Affairs Division of the Prime Minister’s Department announced the conditional pardon, which permits Najib to remain under house arrest until Aug 23, 2028, contingent on the payment of the RM50 million fine.

Najib's lawyer, Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah, had previously stated that his client was unable to afford the fine, which was one of the conditions attached to the house arrest arrangement. In response to the unpaid fine, Umno launched the Najib Solidarity Fund, seeking contributions from party leaders, members, and supporters to help meet the payment.
