We’re going down with United – Man City fans turn to gallows humour
The storm may have abated a little as the outcome of their appeal is awaited, but the guilty verdict and possible demotion hanging over Manchester City for financial misconduct continues to be felt. There was even some gallows humour on display from City supporters in the 1-0 home loss to Brighton as they took the chance to poke fun at their travails of their fiercest rivals.
The English Premier League clash between Manchester City and Brighton and Hove Albion took place at the Etihad Stadium. As the appeal outcome regarding Manchester City's financial misconduct loomed, the team's fans, grappling with the possibility of demotion, employed gallows humour to cope with their predicament. This came to light during their 1-0 home defeat to Brighton at the Etihad Stadium, which followed Manchester United's latest loss to Chelsea.
Amidst the somber mood, some Manchester City supporters chanted, "We're going down with United," attempting to lighten the gravity of their own situation, even though they were currently leading the Premier League.
