2027: Obasa backs Hamzat for Lagos governor

Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker Mudashiru Obasa has expressed support for Dr. Obafemi Hamzat in the 2027 governorship election. Speaking at Hamzat's formal manifesto presentation held on Friday at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts, Obasa stated that Hamzat possesses the competence, character, and determination required to rewrite the socio-economic narrative of Lagos State.

According to Daily Post Nigeria, Hamzat is the current deputy governor of the state and previously sought the governorship in 2019 before agreeing to deputise Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. Obasa cited Hamzat's educational background and experience in both public and private offices as reasons for his confidence in the candidate's ability to succeed the current governor. Punch reports that Obasa expressed confidence in Hamzat's P.R.O.M.I.S.E agenda for the state.
