Sakumono double murder case: Police arrest woman, declare key suspect wanted

The Ghana Police Service has apprehended a 47-year-old woman named Beatrice Mumuni in connection with the murders of two relatives in Sakumono, Greater Accra Region. Police have announced that Mumuni is the principal suspect in the case and are offering a reward of GH¢100,000 for information leading to the arrest of another suspect, Samuel Christopher Osei Anto.

The victims, George Atuguba, 57, and his 47-year-old niece, Irene Atuguba, were killed on October 30, 2026. The police believe that Mumuni led Anto to the victims' residence before the murders took place.

Osei Anto is currently wanted by the police and the public is urged to provide any information regarding his whereabouts to the nearest police station or through emergency numbers 191 or 18555. The police suggest that the killings may have been sparked by a financial dispute involving George Atuguba, who was reportedly owed GH¢500,000.

It is believed that Anto, along with Mumuni, went to the victims' residence to demand the repayment of the money, resulting in a misunderstanding and the subsequent shooting of the two victims.

The police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the murders and remain committed to resolving the case. They have appealed to the public for assistance in locating Samuel Christopher Osei Anto and for any information that could shed further light on the incident.
