Police investigate killing of two over alleged GH¢500,000 debt dispute at Sakumono

Ghanaian authorities are seeking a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of two individuals at NTHC Estate, Sakumono. The incident allegedly stemmed from a financial disagreement between the suspect and 57-year-old George Atuguba, who had reportedly borrowed GH¢500,000 from the suspect but did not repay the loan. The suspect, identified as Samuel Christopher Osel Anto, allegedly arrived at the deceased’s residence on October 30, 2026, accompanied by a woman named Beatrice Mumuni to collect the outstanding debt.

According to preliminary reports, a disagreement ensued, resulting in the suspect opening fire and killing both George Atuguba and his 47-year-old niece, Irene Atuguba. Emergency medical responders arrived at the scene, but despite their efforts, the victims could not be revived and were pronounced dead at the hospital. Their remains have since been transferred to the Police Hospital Mortuary for further examination.

The Accra Regional Police Command has launched a search for the suspect, urging the public to come forward with any information that may aid in the investigation.
