Everwood logra 100 millones del BEI para su sexto fondo verde

Spanish private equity manager Everwood Capital has secured a 100 million euro investment commitment from the European Investment Fund (FEI), part of the European Investment Bank (BEI), for its sixth fund focused on renewable energy assets in southern Europe. The new vehicle, Everwood Energy Fund VI, has an objective size of 500 million euros.
The FEI's commitment is contingent upon the Spanish CNMV granting authorization to the fund's prospectus, a process expected to be completed in the coming days. The sixth fund will primarily invest in assets related to the energy transition in southern Europe, including organic waste valorization and advanced biogas, battery storage solutions, and photovoltaic plants in Italy or opportunistic projects in Spain, as well as solutions for data centers' self-consumption of energy.
The fund will make between 10 and 15 investments in the development (greenfield) of these asset types, with ticket sizes ranging approximately from 30 to 80 million euros per operation. The FEI's investment is supported by the Climate & Infrastructure instrument managed by the Autonomous Resilience Fund (FRA), created by the Ministry of Economy, Commerce, and Enterprise.
Everwood Fund VI aims to raise 500 million euros, and the FEI's 100 million euro commitment represents a significant institutional backing for the fund and its investment strategy. The FEI has previously been a leading investor in Everwood's fifth fund, which received 50 million euros. The European institution has now doubled its previous commitment.
The new fund already has a portfolio of exclusively organic waste valorization and advanced biogas projects, providing investors with greater visibility into the projects that will form part of the fund. "Having a leading institutional investor like the FEI reinforces our conviction in generating attractive returns for our investors by investing in new infrastructure related to the energy transition in southern Europe," comments Everwood co-founder José Antonio Urquizu.
"The FEI's investment comes after a thorough due diligence process on the manager and the fund's strategy," adds co-founder Alfredo Fernández.
