Atlético reactivate Lisandro interest amid Man United contract update
We love Argentine defenders, folks, don’t we?
Manchester United center-back Lisandro Martínez may depart from the team in 2027, according to a new report. The Manchester United defender's contract at the club contains a mutual option to extend it for an additional year, but neither Martínez nor the club wish to activate that clause. Atlético Madrid and Barcelona are among the clubs showing interest in signing the 28-year-old Argentine defender.
In an interview with Edul brothers, former Atlético Madrid player Julián Álvarez stated that he would sign Martínez if given the chance. While Atleti's defenders David Hancko and Álex Grimaldo are comfortable in possession, they do not strike the same level of balance as Martínez. Barcelona is also reported to be interested in signing the defender, with a potential January transfer window being the starting point for negotiations.
