2027: Brazilian president’s victory should inspire Nigerians — LP

The Labour Party (LP) has called on Nigerians to support its candidates in the upcoming 2027 general elections, drawing inspiration from Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s re-election. Lula’s victory in October 2025 showcased the power of voters to shape their country’s future through the ballot, according to the LP. Lula secured 51.79% of valid votes in Brazil’s presidential run-off, defeating his right-wing challenger Flávio Bolsonaro, who received 48.21%.

As the LP’s National Publicity Secretary, Ken Asogwa, emphasized, Lula’s triumph demonstrated the confidence voters can place in a political party that prioritises social justice, economic inclusion, and the welfare of the people. He highlighted the ideological similarities between the Labour Party and Brazil’s Workers’ Party, both rooted in social democracy.

Asogwa encouraged Nigerians to learn from Brazil’s electoral experience and vote for the LP in the 2027 elections, urging them to see the party as an alternative to existing governance models.
