I installed One UI 9 on my Galaxy S24; it feels like I got a Galaxy S26 upgrade for free
Most of the S26's AI tools now run on a two-year-old S24 Ultra
I installed One UI 9 on my Galaxy S24 Ultra to compare it with the newer Galaxy S26. To my surprise, most of the Galaxy AI tools from the S26 now run on the S24 Ultra. While the S24 Ultra still boasts a privacy display, fast charging, and a faster processor, the software gap is much smaller. Samsung added features like Now Nudge, which reads the screen and offers next steps, as well as FanCam, which creates new clips following a person's movements in any aspect ratio.
The Quick Panel allows users to resize and rearrange controls, while the Settings app now includes a Warranty and care page. Despite these improvements, the S24 Ultra still lacks certain features such as Notification highlights and Horizontal Lock, which the S26 has. Samsung should consider bringing these features to the S24 Ultra, as it would make the update more appealing for users.
