CDA Clears Encroachments in Sector Launched 20 Years Ago

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has successfully cleared encroachments from approximately 36.5 acres of land in Sector I-15, setting the stage for the development of around 500 plots, nearly two decades after the sector was established in 2005. This operation in Sub-Sector I-15/1 involved the removal of over 300 houses, cattle sheds, and havelis in Sheikhpur village, which had been hindering the sector's planned development as per its approved blueprint.

According to CDA, the cleared land constitutes about one-fourth of the sector, encompassing both residential and commercial plots that were previously under encroachments. The Supervision of this operation was carried out by Deputy Director General (Enforcement) Dr Anum Fatima, who conducted the task over a span of nearly two months. Many of the affected allottees are retired government employees whose investments have been stagnant for years due to these encroachments.

The issue drew the attention of CDA Chairman Sohail Ashraf during an open forum, leading to the directive from him to the Enforcement Directorate to tackle the encroachments and reclaim the land. The CDA has also instructed its Planning Wing to commence planning and development work in the cleared area with urgency to expedite the process of transferring possession to the allottees.

However, the authority clarified that this land clearance marks only the beginning, with the formal possession contingent upon subsequent planning, development work, and fulfilling all necessary legal and administrative formalities.

The CDA reiterated its dedication to safeguarding the rights of lawful allottees, removing public land occupied by encroachers, and accelerating the residential development in alignment with the approved plans and regulations.
