Qatar changes sweetened drinks tax registration rules from November 1

AngloGold Ashanti’s Obuasi Mine and Endeavour Mining will co-host the inaugural West Africa Mine Rescue and Emergency Response Competition (WAMRERC) from November 2nd to 6th, 2026, in Obuasi, Ghana. The five-day event aims to bolster mine safety and emergency preparedness throughout the region by uniting mine rescue teams, emergency responders, government officials, regulators, industry leaders, and service providers from across West Africa.

The competition will provide a platform for participating teams to showcase their technical skills, evaluate their emergency response capabilities, and share knowledge on mine rescue, casualty management, and operational resilience. Organizers assert that the event intends to promote rigorous standards in emergency response and fortify cooperation among mining companies and other stakeholders in tackling safety risks associated with mining operations.

WAMRERC 2026 is inspired by international events like the International Mine Rescue Competition and the Toughest Firefighter Challenge, but it focuses on technical rescue exercises pertinent to the mining industry. Participants will engage in practical simulations and technical challenges to demonstrate their emergency response proficiency, casualty management, and their capacity to safeguard lives in hazardous settings.
