Hansi Flick has two midfield solutions to restore Barcelona’s intensity after Clasico loss

Hansi Flick has identified two midfield options to enhance Barcelona's intensity post-El Clasico loss, according to Sport. The German coach revealed that his players were lacking freshness following their 2-1 defeat to Real Madrid. With upcoming matches against Alaves, Aston Villa, and Atletico Madrid, changes could be necessary to maintain the team's energy.

Both Marc Bernal and Gavi present potential solutions, offering fresh energy alongside Rodri, whose possession influence could benefit from additional physical support. Bernal has not played in Barcelona's last two league matches, while Gavi featured sparingly this season. Their limited involvement has presented Flick with an opportunity to reassess his midfield combinations.

However, Rodri remains central to Barcelona's control of possession and positional structure. The team could benefit from surrounding him with players capable of meeting the physical demands of high-intensity matches. Frenkie de Jong received some minutes alongside Rodri in a recent match, but the Dutchman is still working towards his best physical condition.

Bernal and Gavi bring different qualities to the table, but both could help Barcelona recover the energy that Flick felt was missing against Real Madrid. As Barcelona faces a crucial run of three matches, including fixtures against Alaves, Aston Villa, and Atletico Madrid, squad depth and rotation will be vital. Making better use of players who have seen limited action could help distribute the workload and prevent further fatigue.
