MP Lokayukta Seeks 3 Years Of Civic Body Purchase Records Over Alleged Procurement Irregularities, Demands AI Analysis And Digital Evidence

Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh: The Lokayukta police have written to the Department of Urban Development and Housing, requesting a comprehensive dossier of procurement records from local bodies spanning three years. The inquiry stems from allegations of irregularities in purchases made through the MP e-Nagar Palika and Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portals, according to officials.

Additional Chief Secretary Sanjay Dubey, who addressed urban local body (ULB) officials during a training program in Bhopal in April 2026, appeared in a viral video alongside other senior bureaucrats who highlighted the alleged procurement irregularities. In response to the department's action, Lokayukta Director General Yogesh Deshmukh has formally sought the detailed records, digital evidence, and supporting findings related to the ongoing investigation.

The Lokayukta has specifically requested a copy of the AI-based analysis conducted by officers of the urban development department and the Madhya Pradesh State Electronics Development Corporation (MPSEDC). This analysis, which focused on MP e-Nagar Palika and GeM portals, reportedly identified discrepancies in pricing across various items, such as garbage vehicles, installation of GI octagonal poles, and purchases of phenolic disinfectant, LED bulbs, and other commodities.

Furthermore, the department has been asked to provide an action-taken report concerning the officials, contractors, and other personnel implicated in the irregularities.
