Fleetwood knock Arsenal out of Carabao Cup on penalties

Fleetwood Town eliminated Arsenal from the Carabao Cup after prevailing 5-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw at Highbury Stadium on Tuesday. Aaron Loupalo-Bi gave the League Two side an early lead before Viktor Gyokeres equalized in the second half. Arsenal had several chances to win the match in normal time but couldn't score a decisive goal.

The Gunners converted their first three penalties with Martin Odegaard, Kai Havertz, and Gyokeres, while Fleetwood scored with Harrison Neal, Ronan Coughlan, and Will Davies. Andy Cannon converted the hosts’ fourth kick. Fleetwood goalkeeper Jay Lynch saved Bruno Guimaraes' penalty, putting his team on the verge of victory. Conor Haughey then scored Fleetwood’s fifth penalty, sending the home crowd into celebration and securing the League Two side's place in the quarter-finals.

Arsenal later faced complications when teenager Max Dowman was sent off following a confrontation with Harrison Neal late in the game. The match report announced that Arsenal would face Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, November 1 at 4:30pm, and they would then play their third away match in a row in the UEFA Champions League.
