Autoindustrie: Porsche stabilisiert seine Rendite – das soll erst der Anfang sein

Stuttgart – Porsche, the German sports car manufacturer, has somewhat recovered from the revenue decline it experienced last year, according to the company's latest figures. For the period from January to September, sales fell by nearly six percent to 25.28 billion euros, the company announced on Tuesday. The operating result was 1.74 billion euros, up from just 40 million euros in the previous fiscal year, which was dragged down by massive one-off expenses related to workforce reductions and strategic adjustments.

Despite sales volume decreasing by 16 percent, Porsche managed to generate higher prices through premium models, mitigating the impact on revenue. The group is grappling with a slump in sales in China, a 33 percent decline in the number of vehicles sold, coupled with increased US import tariffs and low demand for electric cars in the sports car market.

With nine months of data, the operating margin stands at 6.9 percent, within the targeted range of 5.5 to 7.5 percent for 2026. This is a significant improvement from the previous year's loss of almost one percent, compared to around 18 percent at the time of the 2022 stock market debut. Porsche's shares have since halved in value.

Finance chief Jochen Breckner confirmed the mid-term target of achieving an operating sales margin of 10 to 15 percent outlined at the beginning of the year.
