Godts stars as PSG beat Lyon to go top of Ligue 1

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) secured the top position in Ligue 1 after defeating Lyon 2-0 at the Parc des Princes. Belgian international Mika Godts, signed from Ajax this summer, played a crucial role in the victory. He came off the bench and set up Senny Mayulu for the opening goal in the 72nd minute, followed by sealing the win with a late strike.

This win marked PSG's eighth consecutive triumph in all competitions, and they moved to the top of the French table, one point ahead of Rennes. The match was initially scheduled for Sunday but was postponed by 24 hours due to violent protests in Paris, coinciding with the Ballon d'Or ceremony in London where 10 PSG players were nominees.

Notably, Ousmane Dembele and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, both PSG stars, were absent due to injuries sustained in their previous match against Barcelona. Dembele missed several weeks due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament, while Kvaratskhelia is expected to be sidelined for months. PSG maintained their focus despite several key injuries, including Nuno Mendes and captain Marquinhos, to clinch their fifth straight Ligue 1 win.
