Mourinho keeps Clasico midas touch 13 years on as La Liga heats up

Jose Mourinho continued his Midas touch in La Liga match-ups, securing a 2-1 victory over Barcelona at the Camp Nou on Sunday with Kylian Mbappe’s late goal. This marks his third consecutive El Clásico win without defeat, a feat he achieved 13 years after his first stint managing Real Madrid. Mourinho has now won six and lost six El Clásicos, placing him alongside Miguel Munoz (1962-1965) and Vicente del Bosque (2001-2003) as managers who have gone six matches without defeat against Barcelona.

The win also ended Barcelona’s nine-game unbeaten domestic run, bringing Real Madrid within three points of their rivals. Mourinho emphasized the importance of calmness and merit in their victory, crediting the strong team performance and individual efforts. Barcelona's manager Hansi Flick acknowledged his team’s lack of freshness after recent intensive demands, stating that small things made the difference in the match.
