On October 12, Oriji Perfection, a 300-level student at the University of Lagos, was returning home when two armed robbers confronted him off New Garage in Gbagada. The attackers threatened to kill him and seized his phone and laptop, demanding he unlock the phone and reveal his password. They also demanded to search his bag, taking his HP Stream 11 laptop.
The robbers threatened to kill him and falsely accuse him of killing their friend to avenge his death, which intensified his fear. Perfection managed to secure his accounts and initiate a remote factory reset on his phone, but he could not use the Find My Phone feature as the device was switched off. His family was informed and expressed relief that he survived, though they were concerned about the stolen belongings.
The incident left Perfection emotionally disturbed, finding it difficult to eat or sleep properly in the days following the encounter.
