Pakistan denounces ‘heinous’ church attack in Jordan, reiterates condemnation of terrorism

Pakistan has vehemently denounced the "heinous terrorist attack" on a church funeral procession in Jordan, reiterating its condemnation of terrorism in all its forms. On Friday, gunmen killed at least seven people and wounded dozens when they stormed a Greek Orthodox church compound in the village of Hammoud, located in Jordan's Karak Governorate.

In a statement from Pakistan's Foreign Office, the country expressed heartfelt condolences to the Jordanian government and people, particularly the families of the deceased. Pakistan reaffirmed its solidarity with Jordan in their fight against terrorism, and reiterated its strongest condemnation of terrorism in all its manifestations.

The attack took place during a funeral procession in Karak, when gunmen in civilian clothes opened fire, wounding 34 people who were still receiving treatment as of Friday evening. King Abdullah II of Jordan pledged a harsh retaliation against the perpetrators, saying, "The terrorist attack against Karak will be met with the harshest retaliation."
