Early morning saw military tanks and security forces stationed at the Abuja City Gate, in anticipation of the anticipated massive demonstration by backers of the Nigeria Democratic Congress presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso. DAILY POST's observations noted the erection of barricades and the initiation of stop-and-search procedures by security personnel at the City Gate.
This deployment is perceived as a preventive action to maintain law and order during the march. The security forces involved consisted of members from the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army, Civilian Joint Task Force, Department of State Services, DSS, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). The supporters of Peter Obi and Kwankwaso had previously announced a joint mega march in the FCT to advocate for good governance.
At the current moment, the area is cordoned off with a significant presence of security personnel and armored tanks.
