De Zerbi hails ‘complete’ Spurs after historic win at Chelsea
Roberto De Zerbi has lifted Tottenham’s fortunes with back-to-back wins after a six-game winless league run raised fears of another relegation battle.
Tottenham's head coach Roberto De Zerbi hailed his team's historic 2-0 victory over London rivals Chelsea as a complete success. The win at Stamford Bridge marked the club's first triumph in the Premier League in 36 years and the first since 2018. De Zerbi's men took advantage of a Chelsea own goal and a late goal from Mathys Tel to banish their poor start to the season.
The win came after the team had endured a run of six league games without a victory, raising concerns of another relegation battle. De Zerbi emphasized the team's improved mentality, relationships, and on-pitch performance, crediting his team-building efforts including group dinners and a trip to Marbella. He stressed that the players had prepared well and were improving mentally and collectively.
Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso expressed disappointment with the result, acknowledging his team's lack of performance but refusing to blame specific individuals.
