Bundesliga: Bayern manager, Kompany collapses, rushed to hospital

Bayern Munich's head coach, Vincent Kompany, was taken to a hospital after collapsing during a reserve team training session on Friday at the club's training ground. The 40-year-old Belgian defender will continue to receive medical attention as he undergoes a thorough examination. The incident occurred while Kompany was watching the younger team practice at Säbener Straße, following the senior squad's training.

Bayern's official statement disclosed that Kompany urgently required medical help following his collapse during the reserve team session. An ambulance transported him, along with an emergency doctor team, to a Munich medical center, and the rescue helicopter was also dispatched. The reserve team's training was subsequently halted.

Bayern's statement emphasized that Kompany's medical condition remains stable, and he is being closely monitored at the hospital. As per Bild, his staff will temporarily manage all training and competition activities. Max Eberl, Bayern's sporting director, reiterated that Kompany's health is the club's top priority, and they will do everything possible to support his recovery.

The club has not disclosed any specific diagnosis or expected return date. Meanwhile, FC Bayern, currently at the top of the Bundesliga table, are set to face Freiburg in a league match on Sunday. Assistant coaches Aaron Danks and Rene Maric will step in to manage the team during Kompany's temporary absence.
