Rivers market will be completed by Jan 2027 — Fubara

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has expressed satisfaction with the progress of the Creek Road Market construction project in Port Harcourt, predicting its completion by January 2027. During an inspection visit, Fubara highlighted that the delay in resurfacing roads within the Old Port Harcourt Township was primarily due to street traders taking over the roads.

To address this issue, Fubara proposed relocating traders to the new market, which would free up the roads for successful resurfacing. The first phase of the market will consist of around 700 stalls and shops, including wet and dry sections, providing ample space for traders while restoring traffic flow. Fubara assured the contractor of the state government's support, including addressing funding concerns, to ensure the project's timely delivery.

The market project aims to enhance the Old Port Harcourt Township's cleanliness, orderliness, and overall environment, benefiting the elderly and local residents.
