Portuguese EdTech startup Intuitivo has secured €1.35 million in Seed funding to ease teachers' workload and expand its operations into Brazil. Led by investments from Caixa Capital and the Impact Innovation Fund, with participation from Techstars, COREangels Lisboa and Porto, Angels Way and other angel investors, the round was orchestrated by the Capitalisation and Resilience Fund (FdCR) via Banco Português de Fomento.
Intuitivo's mission revolves around assisting educators in reducing their administrative burden, enabling them to focus more on teaching. Co-founder and CEO João Guimarães emphasizes the platform's purpose of "giving time back to those who teach."
Founded in 2021 by Guimarães, Duarte Oliveira and Diogo Silva, Intuitivo is a digital assessment platform designed for educators of all levels, from primary school to higher education. The platform allows teachers to create, schedule and grade tests, as well as deliver feedback to students. Teachers can also draw from a shared exercise library or utilize AI to transform old PDF tests into interactive, auto-graded digital versions.
Students access their tests via a single link, eliminating the need for accounts or software installations. The platform also provides teachers with real-time monitoring during live assessments, anti-cheating mechanisms, and automatic performance statistics.
According to an OECD's TALIS 2024 survey, teaching only accounts for 43% of a teacher's working time, with Portugal having the highest time spent on assessment and grading among 44 countries studied. Intuitivo claims to help teachers save around 165,000 hours of working time in the 2025/26 school year alone. The startup currently has 75,000 registered teachers as users and has secured contracts with over 200 municipalities, school clusters and private schools, benefiting more than 500 schools across Portugal.
The additional funding will be used to accelerate product development, nearly doubling its headcount to 20 employees by the end of the year. Intuitivo also plans to expand beyond Portugal into Brazil, a market with an estimated 2.2 million teachers, roughly twelve times the size of its home market. CEO João Guimarães expresses enthusiasm about entering the Brazilian market, noting its language compatibility, ease of digital tool adoption, and existing Intuitivo users in the country.
