Kacey Musgraves has unveiled her forthcoming album, Middle Of Nowhere Vol. 2: Tex Mex Tapes, set to release on January 15 via Lost Highway. The companion album to her 2022 hit Middle Of Nowhere showcases the country singer's exploration of Tex-Mex sounds, featuring 16 new tracks. Four of these songs are sung in Spanish, including a new rendition of her duet with Willie Nelson, "Uncertain, TX," now featuring the regional Mexican band Intocable in place of Nelson.
The album also includes the Norteño traditional "Mi Tesoro," performed in Spanish. Two preview tracks, "Weekend In Texas" and "Mi Tesoro," have been shared ahead of the album's release. "Weekend In Texas" incorporates organ stabs and mariachi horns, tapping into the Texas/Tennessee rivalry that inspired her hit "Choosin' Texas," co-written with Miranda Lambert.
