5 Booked for Hunting Migratory Birds in Sindh

The Sindh Wildlife Department has taken action against five individuals accused of illegally hunting migratory birds at Chotiari Dam in Sanghar, following the viral spread of a video on social media. The video shows a man with a double-barreled gun on a boat, surrounded by numerous hunted birds. Two suspects, Mitho Mallah and Ustad Shafi, along with three others, have been named in the case filed at the Wildlife Station Police Station in Sanghar.

The charges stem from complaints filed by Hussain Bakhsh Khoso under the Pakistan Penal Code and the Sindh Wildlife Protection, Preservation, Conservation and Management Act, 2020. Wildlife officials allege that the suspects were involved in hunting and selling birds in local markets, highlighting the need for stricter enforcement of wildlife conservation laws to protect migratory birds at Chotiari Dam.
