Trump slams NBA’s LeBron James for national anthem actions
Donald Trump posted a video of the basketball legend performing warm-up movements during the national anthem, which he called disrespectful.
US President Donald Trump criticized NBA star LeBron James on Thursday for what he deemed disrespectful behavior during the national anthem prior to a Philadelphia 76ers game. The video shared by Trump showed James engaged in warm-up activities while standing with his team, appearing to mock the playing of the national anthem. Trump accused James of being disrespectful to the country and its fallen soldiers, demanding an apology for his actions.
James, who is entering his 24th NBA season with the 76ers, has not yet commented on the matter. Trump's previous criticism of athletes, particularly Black athletes, for their behavior during the national anthem sparked controversy during his first presidential term.
