I have been cautioned and granted self-recognisance bail – Obuasi SHTS Headmaster

Obuasi Senior High Technical School's suspended headmaster, Zakaria Abdulai, has been cautioned and granted self-recognisance bail by the Police after being arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting several female students. The news broke following JoyNews Investigative Correspondent, Manasseh Azure Awuni's investigative report titled "Inside the Dreaded Headmaster's Bungalow."

Minister of the Interior, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, confirmed Abdulai's arrest during a Public Accounts Committee hearing on October 20, 2026. Abdulai told Radio Show Host Blakk Rasta that he received a self-recognisance bail after being cautioned by one girl and her parents, who reported the sexual assault. He stated that he is awaiting a court date and hinted at a possible conspiracy against him.

Abdulai also clarified that the alleged victim is a 20-21-year-old woman who has a child, but he does not judge her. The investigation's docket has been forwarded to the Attorney General and Minister of Justice for further recommendations on the case's next steps. Abdulai, who was contesting for the Constituency Chairman position, withdrew from the race following the pressure from his party.
